Reduction in Rakat during Travelling
Question:- Obligatory prayers are reduced during travelling. Please advise the method for offering prayers during travelling. For how much distance is this applicable? What about Sunnah Prayers?
Answer:- If a person intends to travel beyond 48 Miles or 77.24 Kilometers, then he must reduce the 4 Rakat Prayers (Zohr, Asr, Isha) to 2 Rakats. And if he intends to stay at his destination for fewer than 15 days, then he must pray reduced prayers at his destination too.
